Solidarity With Women in Distress (SOLWODI) is an NGO which provides support to commercial sex workers and girls at risk in the Kenyan coastal towns of Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Malindi.

SOLWODI targets commercial sex workers and young girls at risk aged between 6 to 45 years. Most of the clients come from the poorer communities and are usually women in difficult circumstances.

The NGO was funded in 1985 by Sister Lea Ackermann under the Catholic Diocese of Mombasa. It was registered as a Kenyan NGO in 1997. Six programmes are being implemented in Kenya by SOLWODI. See Programmes for more information.
